  • Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. to help distribute food

Food Pantry 101:

On average, the Morrow First Food Pantry serves 120 families each month. This means that every month, we need 120 cans of chicken, 120 packets of pasta sides, 120 cans of vegetables, and 120 rolls of toilet paper. Every other month, we need 120 cans of spaghetti sauce, 120 boxes of spaghetti noodles, 120 small bags of rice, and 120 small bags of dried beans.

EVERY month, the children’s bags need 80 small jars of peanut butter, 80 jars of jelly, 80 cans of Spaghetti O’s, 80 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 80 packages of Ramen noodles, 80 cans of fruit, and 80 bottles of juice.
(Our Food Pantry has a very small budget, and cannot afford to purchase all of these items on a monthly basis.)

Fortunately, from the MidWest Food Bank, we receive a monthly allotment, which might include cereal, cookies, crackers, candy, chips, drinks, and sometimes frozen meat.

We can always use volunteers on Wednesday to pack adult and children’s bags or on Thursdays, when we actually hand out bags to Clayton County residents in need. (Judy Jaeger is responsible for scheduling volunteers.)

Your support of the Food Pantry can mean the difference between “What’s for dinner?” and “Is there dinner tonight?”
