Good morning, Morrow First UMC family and friends!

I am so excited to be reappointed as your Senior Pastor for my third year! Great goals and expectations await us as we continue to be the Body of Christ and stay connected in person, live streaming on YouTube, drive in services when needed, and fellowship opportunities via our website and new church app! You will love using the Morrow FUMC app during Worship services!

I would like to take a special moment to thank our members, staff, governance board, lay speakers, liturgists, servant leaders, and all those who contributed and still contribute to our weekly devotionals. Many thanks to our tech and sound team leaders, Chuck and Beth Mathews, and their volunteers who make sure we can live stream our worship services and stay connected during COVID-19, and afterwards. Also, thanks to the entire team who gathered together to assure we could have a parking lot drive-in service. Our first service was March 21st. We returned to in person Worship on March 28th, Palm Sunday, and on Easter Sunday, April 4, we recognized our 2020 confirmation class graduates with certificates presented by their teacher, Tracy Larson.

We are prepared for connecting any Sunday with both live stream and in person worship options available. Our team spirit and outstanding leadership continues to help us and others see and be the light of God, and give thanks and praise to God even in the midst of Covid-19 and hard and challenging times. We pray for everyone who has lost loved ones, has submitted prayers, published and private, and are presently undergoing challenges. We are here for you. Please let us know how we can help you. Many of our members have been vaccinated and we celebrate seeing and being close together once more, safe, and still in masks.

We are excited that we have returned to in person worship and it is so good to see you again! And for those who cannot come, live streaming on YouTube keeps us connected. I look forward to us continuing to utilize our social media outlets with more members and guests downloading our church app and being able to follow our worship services and monthly events. Please call the church office if you need assistance. All we need is available on our phones. Members who are homebound still receive our Morrow Mirror mailings.

Opportunities to fellowship in various ways while remaining safe are available. Sunday school and Worship services; Wednesday Fellowship which will continue until May 19th; bowling which begins May 19th; Morrow Ramblers meetings and field trips; UMW meetings and a luncheon on May 15th; and children and youth trips. These are just a few of the things planned to keep us connected, safe and here for each other and new people we meet and invite to our various events or welcome tables.

I look forward to us continuing to utilize our social media outlets as well as our church app to follow our Sunday worship services and all of our events.

Our recent community renewal service was a huge success! We had only one service this year -- a drive in service on Sunday evening, April 25 -- in the parking lot of First Baptist Church of Morrow. All three of the pastors contributed to a homily on Ephesians 6:10-18, “The Armor of God.” We look forward to our community renewal service in 2022 where we will return to a three-night revival with each church providing a meal, choir, and sermon.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9, and my prayers are that every mother and every woman who has helped a mother in any way feel honored and appreciated for helping all women and mothers to raise children. Our high school and college graduates will be recognized on May 16th. Congratulate them for their many accomplishments.

Thank you again for all the ways you have continued to love one another, freely giving and serving, and being impactful in our community and in the world!

Pray for Ralph and me as we both plan to go to Africa July 5-20th. Ralph is going to Tanzania and I am going back to Kenya!

Our M/D/S/F Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Our theme this year is “I Hope You Dance!”.
