Dear Church Family,
I want to give you a quick update on the church building.
The building remains closed this week while we complete the pest treatment process. The pest control company will return on Friday to inspect the building and determine the next steps. Until then, please do not enter the church building unless you have been specifically authorized to do so.
A few updates for events this week:
- Choir Practice this Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. will be held at First Baptist Church of Morrow (1647 Lake Harbin Road).
- Thursday Friendship Share Group is postponed until Thursday, October 15.
We will send another update on Friday with information about our worship location for Sunday, once we know the status of the building.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work through this process. We know the continued changes are frustrating, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work to make sure the building is safe for our congregation.
Peace,
Pastor Whitney
Previous Message from 9/30/2026:
This has certainly been an unexpected week for our church family. We are currently dealing with a pest-control issue in our building, and the experts are working with us to assess the situation and provide the necessary treatment. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we take the steps needed to address it properly.
Because of the temporary building closure, a few things will look different this week:
- Church Buildings Temporarily Closed: The church buildings will remain closed through Tuesday, October 6. We anticipate reopening that day, pending confirmation from our exterminators that it is safe to return.
- Worship This Sunday: We will gather at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park United Methodist Church (4473 College St, Forest Park, GA 30297). We are grateful to have a space where we can worship together while our building is being treated.
- Dishes of the World Potluck: Unfortunately, we will need to cancel this Sunday’s potluck due to the change in location.
- Blessing of the Animals: We will still have the Blessing of the Animals under the Pavilion this Sunday, October 4th at 5pm. Bring your pets (or a photo of your pet) to be blessed.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and grace as we navigate this unusual week together. We are grateful for the many people who have stepped up to help, and for the ways our church family continues to care for one another even when things don’t go according to plan.
In the midst of an unusual week, we are still the church, and we are still finding ways to worship, serve, and care for one another. We look forward to being together again soon!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Whitney
