Mary Anne Brannon was awarded the 2008 Courageous Woman of the Year

On Sunday, November 9,2008, Mary Anne Brannon was awarded the 2008 Courageous Woman of the Year by UMW President Melanie Lewis. Mary Anne is a Certified Lay Speaker,Sunday School Teacher for the Bridge Builders Class for over 20years, former Chair of the Council on Ministries, a member of the Administrative Board, Co-Chair of the Older Adult Ministries, frequent presenter of the WWNS programs and a Liturgist.Mary Anne also plays the piano for the Marvin Foster Sunday School Class, is a choir member, song leader, and a bell choir member. Mary Anne has written many of the narrations for the choir's special presentations during the Christmas season and is an actor/commedienne with the Morrow Players. The Thursday Friendship Share Group, where Mary Anne is the Vice President and the frequent presenter of programs at the annual retreats, believes that Mary Anne is a "Woman of Courage" similar to that depicted in Harry E. Fosdick's hymn, "God of Grace and God of Glory." The hymn pairs wisdom and courage, joined together for "the facing of this hour," "the living of these days,"and seeking the "Kingdom's goal." It is the way Mary Anne embodies these qualities for serving others and for serving God that inspire those around her; they are why she has been selected as the 2008 "Courageous Woman of the Year."
